Guidelines for Persons Litigating in the Court of Chancery

These Guidelines, updated August 2021, reflect some suggested best practices for moving cases forward to completion in the Court of Chancery. Included are guidelines for in-court hearings, trials, and other procedural issues for litigating cases before the Court of Chancery. These Guidelines are intended to ensure that all attorneys are aware of the expectations of the Court and to provide helpful guidance in practicing in our Court. These Guidelines are not binding Court Rules. They are intended as a practice aid that will allow our excellent Bar to handle cases even more smoothly and to minimize disputes over process, rather than the substantive merits. Best Practices for E-Filing

These Best Practices will help practitioners avoid having their e-filings rejected by the Register in Chancery. The guidelines provide a comprehensive list of documents that are commonly filed with the Court and identify requirements for each.
