On June 26, 2018, the Delaware General Assembly enacted into law Senate Bill 235 that in sections 48 to 55 removed the statutory provisions related to the Child Placement Review Board (CPRB), bringing the work of the CPRB to a close. What is Assist?

Achieving Self Sufficiency through Supported Transition (ASSIST)

ASSIST is a state funded program that provides enhanced independent living services for youth who have aged out of Delaware's foster care system. The program provides a stipend (the amount is based on the youth's financial need) that can be used for the following:

  • Housing
  • Living Expenses
  • Education Expenses
  • Employment Related Expenses
  • Savings
  • Insurance
  • Transportation Expenses

To be eligible for ASSIST funds, the youth must be active with an Independent Living Provider, complete a financial literacy training course and employed (paid or unpaid) and/or attending school. For more detailed information on the ASSIST program, contact your Independent Living worker.
