What is Assist?

Achieving Self Sufficiency through Supported Transition (ASSIST)

ASSIST is a state funded program that provides enhanced independent living services for youth who have aged out of Delaware's foster care system. The program provides a stipend (the amount is based on the youth's financial need) that can be used for the following:

  • Housing
  • Living Expenses
  • Education Expenses
  • Employment Related Expenses
  • Savings
  • Insurance
  • Transportation Expenses

To be eligible for ASSIST funds, the youth must be active with an Independent Living Provider, complete a financial literacy training course and employed (paid or unpaid) and/or attending school. For more detailed information on the ASSIST program, contact your Independent Living worker.
