The Delaware Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) is pleased to offer a 1/2-day Court Interpreter Workshop on Ethics and Professional Responsibilities for Court Interpreters. This class will be free of charge for interpreters listed in the current Delaware Court Interpreter Registry and $35 for all others interested, space permitting. This workshop will be comprised of 3.5 hours of lecture and practice. Delaware will grant 3.5 CE credits to attendees who successfully complete the workshop. This is a comprehensive training on the Code of Ethics, meant to achieve the following:

  • ✔ that interpreters carefully review and understand the contents of the code
  • ✔ that they acquire insights into applying its standards effectively
  • ✔ that the CIP and its interpreters collaborate in supporting the standards of practice


  • What is ethics, professionalism
  • The Code, taking the oath to heart
  • Ethically challenging scenarios (including recorded material as evidence)
  • Group exercise/response analysis
  • Survey, Certificate of completion

Speakers: Jennifer Figueira, CMI- Delaware Court Interpreter Program Coordinator; Court Interpreter Certified in the states of DE, MD, PA, NJ; National Board Certified Medical Interpreter; Translator. Attendees will be encouraged to participate actively during this workshop.

The workshop will take place Saturday, June 8, 2019 at the Route 9 Library: 3022 New Castle Ave., New Castle, DE 19720 in the multipurpose room. Time is 11am-3pm. Please arrive at least 15 minutes early to check in. Cost is free for interpreters listed in the current Delaware Court Interpreter Registry and $35 for all other court interpreters interested, subject to space availability. Registration and fees for this workshop must be received by May 24, 2019. Registrants will receive a confirmation of acceptance. There may be a waiting list.
