Guardianship
Opinions and Orders
The Court of Chancery handles guardianship cases involving adults with a disability, as well as the property of minors. To protect the privacy rights of persons with a disability subject to guardianships, guardianship proceedings are strictly confidential and judicial decisions in guardianship cases are not publicly disseminated, except in rare cases.
To provide guidance and promote transparency on how guardianship cases are handled by the Court, the Court is making publicly available a set of recent guardianship decisions involving issues of general interest. The names of participants and other confidential information have been redacted from those decisions.
