  • Effective January 1, 2013, the Judicial Branch adopted Administrative Directive 181 and is committed to providing a healthy and productive work environment for employees, clients, visitors, and others who come to the Delaware Courts.  Therefore, the use of tobacco products is prohibited within the boundaries of all State workplaces including all buildings, facilities - indoor and outdoor spaces - and the surrounding grounds owned by the State.

President Judge of the Superior Court of the State of Delaware

There are requirements of political balance under Art. IV, § 3 of the Delaware Constitution and, in this case,  the appointee must be a member of the Democratic  Party, a current Judge of the Superior Court, or both.  The appointee must be a citizen of the State of Delaware and learned in the law.
