The results from the July 2009 Bar Examination are now posted by applicant number. The list of successful applicant names is now also available. All applicants will receive a letter in the mail confirming the results. The mailing will include scores for unsuccessful applicants and information regarding admission for successful applicants. The Delaware Bar Examination will be administered on July 27, 28 and 29, 2009 at Widener School of Law, 4601 Concord Pike, Wilmington. Instructions and Information regarding the 2009 July Bar Examination are now available. Seating assignments will be emailed to all applicants the week of July 13. Please be sure that your email address is current. We do not issue exam tickets. Seating assignments are for information purposes only. To gain entrance into the exam, you need to present a government issued identification such as a drivers license or passport. If you plan to use ExamSoft, please note the deadline to signup is June 30.
Delaware does not administer a February Exam. The deadline to file an Application to take the 2009 Bar Examination is April 15th with a filing fee of $600.00. However, if you file a complete Application by March 16, the filing fee is $500.00. All filing fees must be paid by certified check or money order payable to “Board of Bar Examiners of the Delaware Supreme Court”. Personal checks are not permitted. Applications must be filed in accordance with the instructions for submission of documents listed on Page 7 of the Bar Application including the indexing and tabbing of documents. Applications not filed in compliance with these instructions will be rejected. Please note that most communications from the Board regarding your Application will be sent by email.
The Application must be completed by all applicants applying for Admission. There is not a separate application for applicants retaking the exam. Therefore, even if you have filed an application in the past, you must still file a complete Application for this year. If you took the 2008 Examination, you do not need to file transcripts again. However, current photographs and good standing certificates must be submitted. You need only mail Form A reference letters to your current employer or any new employers since your last application.

For an additional $100 fee, the Board will be offering the use of ExamSoft to type your answers to the essay portions of the Bar Examination on your own personal laptop. The Delaware Bar Examination will consist of the Multistate Bar Examination (MBE), two Multistate Performance Tests (MPT) and eight essay questions on such subjects as listed in Board Rule 12. In addition the Multistate Professional Responsibility Examination (MPRE) is required (see Board Rule 8 for time restriction). For more information on these tests, please refer to the National Conference of Bar Examiners.
In order to be admitted to practice in Delaware, all persons who pass the 2009 Delaware Bar Examination will be required to attend the two-day mandatory Pre-Admission Conference. The conference will be held at Widener University School of Law on Thursday, November 5 and Friday, November 6, 2009. Please plan accordingly -- attendance at the two-day program is mandatory.
