Delaware Grade School Mock Trial
The Delaware Courts have developed a mock trial presided over by a judge for children in Grades 2 through 8. The program is designed to expose students visiting the Courthouse to a “real life experience” with court processes. For more information, contact Sarah Lubin.
Miracle on 34th Street
The Delaware Judiciary and the Delaware State Bar Association invite children in Grades 3 through 6 to witness the reenactment of the courtroom scene from Miracle on 34th Street. The play is an opportunity for children to experience a trial setting in a real courtroom and provides a civics lesson using real lawyers, judges and other legal officials. The Delaware Judiciary Youth Forum
The Delaware Judiciary Youth Forum offers an experiential learning program for 6th through 8th grade students. A tour of the New Castle County Courthouse is followed by a visit to a courtroom where students will meet a judge, attorneys, and court staff and learn about jury service and the elements of a trial. The formal program is interrupted by a "surprise" which will give students a chance to learn hands-on how a jury trial works. There will be opportunities throughout the day to ask questions of people who work in the field of law and the courts. Students arrive at the New Castle County Courthouse located at 500, North King Street in Wilmington at 9 a.m. and board their buses for the return trip to school at 12:30 p.m.
Courthouse Tours
