ART IN THE NEW CASTLE COUNTY COURTHOUSE

The New Castle County Courthouse, over the past few years, has had numerous sophisticated paintings, sculptures and works of art added to its walls. The efforts of the NCCCH Art Committee have made it possible for courthouse employees and the public to enjoy the art of nationally and internationally recognized artists on a daily basis.
The latest piece arrived on November 4, 2005, in the lobby of the courthouse. Named “
”, it is the work of Robert Goodnough, a well known painter and sculptor, who lives and works in the New York City area. His work is represented in the Museum of Modern Art, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Whitney Museum of Art, Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York City and in numerous museums across the country, including the Delaware Art Museum. Mr. Goodnough has been named by Time Magazine as one of the 100 best artists in America.
The NCCCH Art Committee continues its efforts to make the New Castle County Courthouse an extraordinary place to work. Currently three more impressive pieces of art work are planned for the courthouse, with one planned for installation this summer.
