The New Castle County Courthouse Parking Garage is attached to the Courthouse. You must be prepared to pay for your own parking each day of your jury service. If you park in the garage attached to the Courthouse, be aware that the rate is $11 per day.
Superior Court does have limited number of free parking spaces in the garage attached to the Courthouse. However, no one is guaranteed free parking while on jury duty. If you leave before completing your service, you are not eligible for free parking. If you park in any parking facility other than the one attached to the Courthouse, the Court cannot pay for your parking.
Remember, you must be prepared to pay for your own parking each day regardless of where you park. The Court cannot guarantee free parking for any juror. The following is information about parking at the New Castle County Courthouse during your jury service.
Each person reporting for jury service must be prepared to pay for their own parking each day. The Superior Court has a limited number of free parking spaces in the garage attached to the Courthouse. There are only 167 free parking spaces and to qualify for one of them, you must park before 9:15 a.m. However, the Court cannot guarantee that you will receive free parking. If you park after 9:15 a.m. or if the Court’s limited number of spaces are taken, you will have to pay for your own parking. The fee for parking in the garage attached to the Courthouse is $10 per day. The Court cannot validate your parking if you park in a facility other than the garage attached to the Courthouse. First preference for free parking will be given to those jurors reporting for their first day of jury service, but again, each person must be prepared to pay for their own parking.
The New Castle County Courthouse Parking Garage is attached to the Courthouse. There are two entrances to the garage – one on Walnut Street between 5th and 6th Streets under the vertical sign that spells P-A-R-K, the other off King Street, between 5th and 6th Streets. Both entrances are clearly marked with large signs spelling out the word park, P-A-R-K. Remember, even if you park in the garage attached to the Courthouse, you have to be prepared to pay for your own parking each day.
To reach the New Castle County Courthouse, make your way to Martin Luther King Boulevard (Exit 6 in either direction off I-95). Once you exit onto Martin Luther King Boulevard, follow the signs for City Center. Once you pass the sign for North Center City, go through three lights. When you come to the fourth light, the road is split by a median. Stay to the left of the median and go through the fourth light (at the corner of Fourth and Walnut Streets). After you go through the light, the third driveway on your left will be the entrance to the New Castle County Courthouse parking garage – it is directly under the large white sign spelling out the word park – P-A-R-K. If you miss this entrance, keep driving until you reach the next corner. Turn left at the corner, then turn left again onto King Street. You will see a driveway on your left as you approach the Courthouse that will lead you to the garage. There are no assigned parking spaces in the garage. Bring your ticket into the Courthouse with you. Remember, you must be prepared to pay the $11 daily parking fee yourself.
All jurors should report to their designated area by the assigned time stated in the Jury Reporting Instructions you listened to earlier.
No juror is guaranteed free parking and all jurors must be prepared to pay for their own parking each day.
