Judge Wallace Appointed to CCLD Panel

Judge Paul R. Wallace has been appointed to the Complex Commercial Litigation Division Panel (CCLD) succeeding President Judge Jan R. Jurden as of November 30. CCLD cases previously assigned to retired Judge Silverman are now reassigned to Judge Wallace, and all matters should be directed to Judge Wallace as provided for in his judicial preferences and the CCLD Standing Orders.

President Judge Jurden is confident that Judge Wallace will enhance the excellence of the CCLD through his proven adept ability to handle complex matters of significant public concern in a thoughtful and efficient manner.
New Interim Guideline for Electronic Device Use by Media Representatives

Effective November 30, the Superior Court has new interim guidelines for the use of electronic devices by media representatives. The guidelines apply to the use of all electronic devices capable of transmitting, receiving, recording or storing messages, images, sounds, data or other information by electronic means. The use of all electronic devices is strictly controlled within court facilities. Prohibited uses include all photographic and videography including sound recordings, broadcast sound, and broadcast still or moving images. View Guidelines >>

Rated Number One for 10th Year

In 2015 study, and for the tenth year, Delaware was ranked number one overall in Harris Poll's State Liability Systems Ranking Study conducted for the Institute for Legal Reform. The nation's top corporate counsel and senior litigators recognized Superior Court as the premier court of general jurisdiction in the country. The Court was recognized by general counsel and senior litigators as doing the best job of "having a litigation environment perceived to be fair and reasonable in its handling of civil cases". County Caption Designation Change

Administrative Directive 2015-5. Effective January 1, 2016, all pleadings filed in Superior Court, in both civil and criminal matters, should only include the caption designation of 'In the Superior Court of the State of Delaware'. Pleadings filed after January 1, 2016 should not include a county designation. View Directive >>
