Office of the Child Advocate: For Professionals & Organizations

Mandatory Reporting Tranings

Following the reviews of several child death or near deaths cases in which a professional failed to identify or report child abuse and neglect in Delaware, the Child Death, Near Death, and Stillbirth Commission’s (CDNDSC) Child Abuse and Neglect Panel concluded, based on multiple recommendations, that training was imminent. As such, public education became a joint initiative for the Child Protection Accountability Commission (CPAC) and CDNDSC in FY09, and since then several Mandatory Reporting Trainings for various disciplines have come to fruition. These disciplines include educators, medical professionals and general professional audiences.

These trainings are available on the Office of the Child Advocate's Online Training System, which also hosts a variety of training programs developed by the Child Protection Accountability Commission. To access the training content, please follow the link: http://ocade.server.tracorp.com/. You must register and create a user name and password. Please also choose the applicable group code to gain access to the mandatory reporting curriculum and available resources.

  • By selecting the group code General Public, you are given access to the Mandatory Reporting Training for general professional audiences. Select this option if you are a childcare provider, non-profit social service agency, State of Delaware employee, etc.
  • By selecting the group code Medical Professionals, you are given access to the Mandatory Reporting Training for professionals licensed by the Board of Medical Licensure and Discipline and other healthcare professions. Please note that this training is updated every two years in accordance with the license renewal timeframe for physicians. The next update will be available on January 1, 2015 and every two years thereafter. The Division of Professional Regulation provides further guidance about the mandatory training requirements and license renewal process. More information is available at this link: http://dpr.delaware.gov/boards/medicalpractice/mandatory_training.shtml.
  • By selecting group code Educators, you are given access to the Mandatory Reporting Training for teachers and staff in educational settings. Please note that Delaware public school teachers must access this online course through Blackboard to be in compliance with the yearly training requirements per 14 Del .C.ยง 4123.

To access other training content or for technical problems, please contact Jessica Begley at 302-255-1746 or Jessica.Begley@state.de.us. Please also contact Jessica Begley to request in-person Mandatory Reporting Training for your organization.

PLEASE NOTE: You will need Adobe Reader 9 to access these files. If you do not have the latest version, please download it here. This training may not be compatible with Safari—you may need to use Internet Explorer or Firefox to view the training.
